something stupid made from something serious

they couldn’t stop themselves if they once tried
but we’re the ones hung out to dry
now some throwaway self-deprecating laundry-based conundrum on a thursday

here i am 45

once in a lifetime
a slowdown but still alive
at least for now
must be get-a-life time
here i am still in love
and still naively hoping down means up
a write down
a right old clown
all assets stripped
but still not giving up

i couldn’t stop myself
why would i try?
all my concerns pegged out along this line

i’ll crowdfund a complex skill-requiring operation
to install a conscience in you
and then we’ll wipe your mind
cut out your elbowness and aspiration
